Comparing Objects
An exhaustive search of both the backend (starhive-development) and frontend
(starhive-client/apps/platform-ui) — object-comparison/merge terms, a "Compare with another
object" menu action, "Set as original" copy, dedicated compare/duplicate UI components — found
nothing matching this feature in either repo. It may live in a service or repo not available in
this checkout, may have been removed since this was last documented, or this page may need a
live-instance check before publishing. Treat everything below as unconfirmed.
Open an object's details, use the ⋯ menu, and choose Compare with another object to view two objects side by side. Comparing changes nothing by itself — nothing is copied, merged, or deleted — and anyone who can view the object can use it.
- Pick the other object in the search box on the right-hand card. The search covers the whole type family, so a sub-type or sibling type can be compared too, and you can swap it for a different object at any time.
- Read across the two cards — both show the same rows in the same order and scroll together; hovering a row highlights it on both sides and shows who last set that value. A row the other side's type doesn't have reads Not part of this object's type.
- Fix what's wrong by clicking a value and editing it in place, on either card, if you have permission to change that object. Edits save immediately; a note at the bottom says which side, if any, is read-only for you.
Close with × or Esc.
Find and Resolve Duplicates uses this same side-by-side view, but adds copy arrows for merging — comparing deliberately doesn't.
